Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
In a significant development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has discovered a substantial sum of Bangladeshi currency during its investigation into the ration distribution corruption case involving former Bangaon mayor Shankar Adya, also known as Daku. The recovered amount, equivalent to approximately six and a half lakh rupees in Indian currency, was found in a foreign exchange trading office on Marquis Street in central Kolkata, associated with Shankar Adya.
The ED, probing the case, is delving into the reasons behind such a substantial amount of foreign currency being stored in Shankar Adya's office. The investigation is part of a broader search operation carried out by the ED at six locations linked to Shankar, including his chartered accountant's office. The recovery of Bangladeshi currency adds a new dimension to the ongoing inquiry into the alleged corruption in ration distribution.
